About the band

Eve Spofforth
vocals
Eve has been singing on stage since before she can remember. Brought up with music in a musical family she is influenced by all musical eras. Although she has dabbled in musical theatre, funk and soul is at her heart.

Martin Ledger
guitar
Martin is well known on the York music scene as he’s handy with sound engineering in addition to the guitar. ‘Slej’ is one of the nicest people you could meet, but just don’t ask him to take his PA up some stairs.

AJ Nash
tenor sax
Born into aristocracy
(12th Viscount of Nether Whallop) AJ hails from Leeds but has additional residences in Jersey and Canary Wharf. He likes to transcribe the solos of Eric Dolphy.

Andy Daish
bass
Looks like his Fender – battered and abused. Has played bass in several bands around York and has resorted to making his own amps and pedals in order to fund a crumpet habit.

Theo Daish
tenor sax
By far the youngest member of the band, Theo recently had green hair and dines only on the finest potted beef from Inverness. He owns four whisks.

Dan Clarkson
keyboard
York born and bred. Dan’s been playing keyboards and performing for a few years now in the region – mainly jazz, but is finding a penchant for cooking funk. Loves the sound of Rhodes in the morning, influences include Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau and Joe Sample, amongst others.

Mike King
trumpet
Mike loves to scream top ‘E’. He can also play high notes on his trumpet. He’s a mean jazz player and in the halfway break can regularly be found knitting his own tea cosies.

Andy Spofforth
drums
London born, but is now a token Yorkshireman. Playing since the age of 12 in many long forgotton bands but notably The Lost Boys in London and Best Friends with fellow Bluephunker Dave. Fond of thumping a vintage drum or two and collecting rare jazz vinyl, Andy likes it LOUD and FUNKY!

Amanda Prosser
trombone
Born at an early age into a musical family, Amanda settled on the trombone. She gigged regularly in Dorset and Cardiff until she got a proper job in 1991 In her time, Amanda has been a handyperson, brewery quality controller (!), nursery worker, van driver and wildlife biologist. Amanda prefers American trombones and now owns three and a half of them.
Funky Feedback
The whole band where fantastic, playing a good selection of music which got everyone up dancing.
From booking through to setting up on the day was handled efficiently and we felt in very good hands at all times. We could really leave it with them to sort the whole evening’s music. I would definitely recommend Bluephunk for any occasion, fabulous!!
